Human Resources Committee

Function of the Committee:

Formed in November 2009, the EUMCCI HR Committee aims to promote the importance of human capital in trade in general and among member companies specifically.

The Committee acts:

  • As a Lobby Group - We will actively gather feedback and views from members on important and pressing HR issues and channel them to the relevant Government authorities for discussion and due consideration.
  • As a Resource Group - We will work to provide member companies with current and useful HR related knowledge, skills and information through appropriate channels such as workshops, seminars, surveys and training programs.
  • As a Networking Group - We will work to raise awareness of HR matters through meaningful activities and events and to contribute to other committees in EUMCCI through regular networking or social events.

Stakeholder: Employees and Employers (HR)

Topic: Employee Engagement

Key Issues: Employers generally complain about the high turnover of staff, especially in the younger age groups and that they are difficult to retain and engage. It would be a good to study if there is a correlation between employee turnover and employee engagement, with special focus on the younger generation and to provide insights into how to engage and retain them better.

Event Format:

    • Form a group of employees to have a closed door roundtable dialogue. We can invite our direct members, companies to send junior employees to the dialogue. Target 15 for the 1st round, and another 15 for the 2nd round. (June)
    • Form a group of employers (HR Directors/Manager) as the same process as the employee roundtable dialogue, who will be willing to share employee turnover and employee engagement data
    • After conducting inquiries and analysis via various mediums, we could organize a seminar to address the issues with solutions from local or foreign experts (like academics/HR practitioners/ leadership/motivational practitioners etc). (Oct)
    • The aim of it would be to let employers and fresh graduates/junior employees understand each other’s expectations and point of view. By bringing up this forum we would like to show that maybe some of the Malaysian companies should change their approaches to employee engagement – adopting views and practices from other cultures.

Event Format: Cocktail Event

Target Audience: Open to all HR Practitioners and Corporates
