It was reported on 9 Dec that the likelihood of the Green Climate Fund being formally approved at the UN talks in Durban appeared stronger than ever and that some delegates still held out hope that a post-2012 extension period for the Kyoto Protocol could be clinched – albeit one that would cover only a silver of the world’s total carbon emissions. It was reported on 19 December 2011 that the Malaysian Local Government  and Housing Ministry gave a 10-month notice to households on the implementation of the national waste segregation systems. The Minister Datuk Seri Chor Chee Heung after launching the National Recycling Day, announced that it will be enforced from September 2012 which is in line with the enforcement of the Solid Waste and Public Cleaning Act or Act 672 and the privatisation of solid waste management and public cleaning work.
